Ingredients

  • 8 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 200g of unsated melted butter
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • 1 tsp mahlab (mahlepi)
  • 1.5 tbsp baking powder

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 C.
  2. In a mixing bowl, pour the flour, sugar, mahlab, yeast, baking powder then add the liquid ingredients; oil, milk and butter.
  3. Work the dough with your fingertips, until the preparation becomes homogeneous. Let the dough rest for 2 hours.
  4. Form patties with the dough about 6 or 7 cm in diameter and 1 or 1 1/2 cm thick. You can use different molds to cut the shapes.
  5. On a baking sheet, arrange the patties and cook them for 15-20 minutes until they turn gold.
